Inclusive education a dream turning into reality

Special Educators in the making turn to Saksham for training!

This month Saksham was host to trainees from Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust. The batch of special educators specialising in Visual Impairment came to Saksham for their short term internship. Under the able guidance of the Principal of Saksham, they have been able to successfully complete their internship and are more practically trained now.
Saksham has signed a MOU with Amar Jyoti, which runs a RCI recognised course , to provide opportunity for practical teaching where they will be evaluated by the faculty of Saksham

Launch of Sugayama Pustakalaya- an online library for Persons with Print Disability

Sugayama Pustakalaya” is an online platform that makes accessible content available to print-disabled people. The library houses publications across diverse subjects and languages in multiple accessible formats


The tricolours filled the school on 14th August when Saksham school witnessed the Independence Day Celebrations. The occasion was graced by the members of the Rotary Club who were extremely impressed byseeing the students of Saksham perform different acts in the function. The sound of melodious songs, sung by the girls of Saksham, filled up the air of Saksham and the street play brought out their patriotic feeling. A Fancy dress show was also presented in which the children depicted people from different states

KABALI Gets an Audio Description

A team from Sakshamwent to Chennai to audio describe the famous Rajnikant Movie “KABALI”. Over 700 visually impaired people from 10 organisations and children of two underprivileged schools had a treat when Rajinikanth’s Kabali was screened for them at Sathyam Cinemas in Chennai. Organised by Radio Mirchi 98.3

Visit to the Farm

As an integral part of the curriculum, the students of Saksham’s PARIVARTAN Group (Vocational Training) were engaged in an excursion to the farm. The students got a chance to get close to nature, feel the vegetables and walk on the trail in the fields. In a conversation with the farmers, they understood the entire process of cultivating vegetables and the importance of farming

Rakhi Celebrations

The spirit of Raksha Bandhan became much more alive at Saksham as the students understood and portrayed their sibling love in the school. Colourful and bright stalls were put up in different companies where the hand made rakhis, envelopes and jewellery fetched a lot of admiration by the employees of the companies

Visual and hearing impaired to enjoy films at IFFI

In the 48th year of IFFI which also has a section on ‘Accessible India’ under which two films ‘Secret Superstar’ and ‘Hindi Medium’ are being screened for the Visual and hearing impaired. Saksham has added audio description and subtitles in these movies to make movies accessible to all including people who cannot see or hear.
