OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

  • We are now the recognized distributors for products from NIVH ( National institute for the Visually Handicapped) Dehradun, WORTH TRUST Chennai,TITAN Industries for Braille watches, RNIB ( Royal National Institute of the Blind) London, ULTMOST for talking items China, VINVISION China and NUANCE— for Talks software for mobile phones and NVDA.
  • Have started distribution centers in NFB-Bangalore,Chandigarh, Bhopal, Delhi University, NAB – Delhi,besides our main centre at Rajinder Nagar.
  • We have started daisy distribution centers in different states e.g. Chandigarh, Rohru – Shimla, Punjab -Jalandhar on 27th February, 2013.
  • Saksham has more than 5500 end users under the scheme of talking software for mobiles.
  • Under the Bookshare project of Saksham about 710 individuals members have registered.
  • Saksham has 30 volunteers for recording various books/magazines.
  • Technology solution centre of Saksham has added new devices – Connexus buddy (Tablet with talking software), Victor Stream Reader, HV pro player – E6(Daisy Player)
  • Introduced Sonic Labeler instead of talking pen friend labeling from RNIB. It is a collection of re-recordable labels with Interactive pen. Voice labels can create for -Medicines, Food packing, Clothes, Messages, File & documents, CD’s & DVD’s, Personal utility products. Price for sonic labeler brought down from Rs. 7000 to Rs. 2600.
  • Screen reader software for laptops/ netbooks/ computer is introduced as NVDA (Non- Visual desktop Access) . It is substitution of JAWS. It includes Eloquence voices for US and UK English along with Nuance vocaliser voices for Indian English and Hindi. These voices are popularly known as Sangita and Lekha TTS. Its price is Rs. 2700 which is brought down from Rs. 15,000, the cost for original JAWS.
  • Computer training was organized by HCL and introduced subsidized Netbooks loaded with screen reading software. Price brought down from Rs.1,00,000 to Rs.18,000.
  • The total numbers of items presently available at the SAKSHAM DISTRIBUTION CENTRE are 78, which include educational items, recreational and daily living items.
  • We have completed 2235 daisy book for distribution in Hindi, English and regional languages which include educational fiction, nonfiction etc.
  • Under the Saksham loan scheme there are 114 end beneficiaries.
  • We have started the accessible version of the weekly magazine – India Today.

  • NCPEDP Universal Design Award was given for his contribution towards making information accessible for the print impaired. – 2012
